Terms and Conditions

1. Introduction and Acceptance

These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the ZanGo mobile application (Android and iOS) and related services (collectively, "ZanGo").

By registering, accessing, or using ZanGo, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use ZanGo.

ZanGo acts solely as a connection platform between tourists ("Tourists") and local guides ("Guides"). ZanGo does not provide tour services, handle payments, or act as an employer of any Guide.

Privacy Policy

Your use of ZanGo is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. You can review the Privacy Policy within the app or on our website. By using ZanGo, you agree to the Privacy Policy.

2. User Accounts and Roles

Tourist: A traveler seeking tour, cultural, or adventure experiences in Zanzibar.

Guide: A local registered user offering guiding services, tours, or travel assistance.

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activities under your account.

3. Bookings and Payments

A booking is confirmed when a Tourist requests a service and the Guide accepts. All payments are made directly between the Tourist and the Guide in cash.

ZanGo does not collect, hold, or transfer any funds. The price and any deposit are agreed between both parties before the booking starts. ZanGo does not charge any commission or service fee for connecting users.

Warning: ZanGo strongly advises against paying large deposits in advance. Any deposit paid directly to a Guide is at your own risk. Tourists are encouraged to pay the full amount at the start of the trip or in small, agreed installments.

4. Cancellation, Trust Score and Strikes

Because ZanGo does not handle payments, a two-layer system ensures fairness:

  • Trust Score: A visible percentage based on completed trips without late cancellations.
  • Strikes: Platform-enforced penalties for late cancellations or no-shows.

Cancellation thresholds:

  • More than 14 days before trip: 0 strikes
  • 7-14 days before trip: 1 strike
  • 3-7 days before trip: 2 strikes
  • Less than 3 days before trip: 3 strikes
  • No-show: 4 strikes

Consequences:

  • 3 strikes → 7-day suspension
  • 5 strikes → 30-day suspension
  • 7 strikes → permanent suspension

Strikes expire after 6 months of good behavior. Emergency cancellations may be appealed to ZanGo support.

5. Credits and In-App Purchases

ZanGo uses virtual Credits for optional AI-powered features. Credits are not real currency and have no value outside the platform.

  • Create / Request Trip – 1 credit
  • AI Chat Assistant – 2 credits
  • Smart Pre-Trip Plan – 40 credits

Credit packs (prices vary by region):

  • 100 credits ($1.99)
  • 300 credits ($4.99)
  • 700 credits ($9.99)
  • 1500 credits ($19.99)

All purchases are processed through Google Play or Apple App Store. Refunds follow store policies and applicable laws.

Credits do not expire while your account is active. If your account is deleted or suspended, unused credits are forfeited.

New users receive 25 free credits. Free credits are non-transferable and non-refundable.

6. Trip Creation Limits and Verification

  • Phone/email verification required
  • 3-day waiting period for new accounts
  • Unproven users: 1 trip per day
  • Proven users: 3 trips per day
  • 30-second cooldown between trip creations

7. Communication Rules

All communication must occur through ZanGo in-app chat. Sharing personal contact information is prohibited.

  • Maximum 3 active chats
  • Unconfirmed chats deleted after 7 days
  • Confirmed chats kept 30 days after trip
  • Closed chats deleted after 24 hours

8. User Conduct

Users must comply with all applicable laws and respect other users.

User Responsibility: Users are responsible for verifying identity, licenses, and safety before participating in any trip.

9. Account Suspension

ZanGo reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create safety risks.

10. Liability and Risk

ZanGo is not responsible for actions of users. Tourism involves inherent risks. Users participate at their own risk.

Service Disclaimer

ZanGo provides a technology platform only. Guides are independent users and not employees of ZanGo.

11. Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Zanzibar. Users agree to attempt good-faith negotiation before legal action.

Users may seek independent legal advice. ZanGo is not responsible for disputes between users.

Platform Availability

ZanGo may modify or discontinue features at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

12. Amendments

ZanGo may modify these Terms at any time.
